Sugababes bandmates were ‘jealous’ of Keisha By 3am 30/09/2009
She’s been branded the bad girl who was forced out of the Sugababes for being a bully – but we hear Keisha sees things a little differently .
The last remaining original member of the chart-topping girlband believes she was dumped because Amelle and Heidi were jealous of her.
After six No.1s, two chart-topping albums and countless awards, it has emerged Keisha was booted out and replaced by Jade Ewen because she was the only one allowed to co-write songs. In a shocking twist it appears Keisha, who was devastated after being branded a bully by fans, feels she was the prime target.
The 24-year-old has kept quiet since issuing her leaving statement, but a source tells us: “The girls were jealous as Keisha would meet up with Kylie’s writers, including Kathy Dennis, without them to create some of their biggest hits.
“When they had meetings with their management there was a perception Keisha would be credited as the only Sugababe worth dealing with. In some instances producers refused to start any work in the studio unless Keisha had arrived.”
The news will come as a shock to fans of one of the Britain’s biggest girlbands, who have only heard Amelle and Heidi’s side.
Keisha helped with the musical direction for Taller In More Ways and Change, which both went to No.1 – and we’re told that the rift grew from there.
Last week Amelle poured her heart out about how life in the band with Keisha was unbearable. After mounting tensions, Amelle and Heidi were ready to quit, until it was decided that Keisha should go.
And the rivalry looks set to continue. We hear Jay-Z, who has signed the Sugababes to his US label, is eyeing up Keisha for a solo deal Stateside.
We may yet get to see them fight it out in the charts
Such a pity that ghouls are out there calling for a pound of flesh.
